Couples Counselling in Farnham
Helping couples find their way back to each other — with 30 years of experience
All relationships go through difficult times — but it’s how we manage those times that makes the difference. I work with couples every day who want more from their relationships, and with 30 years of experience I know that the answer is often found not in fixing disagreements, but in finding new ways to communicate.
Signs that couples counselling could help
Does this sound familiar?
If any of these feel familiar, couples counselling can help you find a way through.
✓ Are you frightened of bringing up a sensitive subject with your partner?
✓ Your conversations seem to just go round and round in circles
✓ You feel more frustrated at the end of a conversation than the beginning
✓ Does it seem as though your partner isn’t listening?
✓ You have only been talking a short while but suddenly you are both in the middle of a shouting match
✓ One of you can’t stop crying and the other disappears in a huff
How couples counselling can help
Understanding
Together we’ll look at your individual arguing styles and uncover the hurt and anger beneath them. Often what seems like a disagreement about one thing is really about something much deeper.
Communication
Couples counselling will help you both to understand your emotions, improve your communication skills and find effective ways of discussing and dealing with your difficulties and differences.
Outcome
Sessions are available face-to-face in Farnham or online via Zoom, with a free initial telephone consultation so you can decide if I’m the right fit before committing.
What if my partner doesn’t want to come?
Ideally a couple should come to counselling together but, if your partner refuses, I can still help you to improve the situation on your own. We will take time to sort through your feelings and this will help you to make a positive impact on your relationship and communication. This could result in your partner wanting to join you further down the line.
All of us go through ups and downs in our relationships and, from time to time, we can become stuck in our patterns of communicating with each other. Whatever the problem I will help you to look at your communication skills and work out different ways of dealing with your difficulties — perhaps you both want the same thing but are speaking different languages.
